In 1984, Bob Knight was the head coach of Team USA as they played a series of exhibition games to tune up for the Olympics. A team of college players that included Steve Alford and Michael Jordan played a team of NBA All Stars in Indianapolis in front of a then record crowd of 67,596 fans. 

”I heard today that basketball was invented in Springfield, Massachusetts, and that is true,” Knight told the crowd. ”God had it invented there so we could import it to Indiana.”
